How to tell a real government page from a fake one

Central government sites end in .gov.in or .nic.in. A few statutory bodies differ — the Reserve Bank uses rbi.org.in, IRCTC uses irctc.co.in — so read the spelling carefully before entering anything personal.

No government service charges a convenience fee to accept an application, and no official asks for your Aadhaar OTP, card PIN or CVV on a call. If money has already gone, call 1930 or file at cybercrime.gov.in the same day — the first few hours matter most.
